Moorcroft - RSPB Sand Lizard Tray 780/4 (Numbered)
The acidic sandy soil on the restored heathland at RSPB Farnham Heath in Surrey is the perfect habitat for sand lizards, and several re-introductions have now taken place there to try to boost the population. Most recently, a project between the RSPB and ARC saw a group of 21 lizards released, but ‘test burrows’ found elsewhere on the reserve show that sand lizards from previous introductions are also breeding. For such a small creature, Vicky chose a small coaster shape, on which a sand lizard twists and turns as he tries to scuttle away to his burrow.
